Adam Conover's Shady Dance with Sam Altman's World Chain Sparks Outrage

Hollywood's own Adam Conover is stirring up a storm after getting cozy with Sam Altman's controversial crypto project, World Chain. The internet is buzzing with fury over this unexpected alliance, especially since the project's been slammed in multiple countries for shady data privacy practices.

The drama kicked off when Conover dropped a hot Instagram reel, showing himself diving into the World Chain (WLD) universe by snagging a World ID. That post? It's not just viral—it's a lightning rod for criticism and wild theories, especially on the wild west of Reddit.

But hold onto your hats, because there's more. Conover teamed up with World Chain for a jaw-dropping three-minute video saga, spilling the beans that they actually paid him to show up at their San Francisco shindig. He swears up and down he's just there to grill them about the tech, not to give it a thumbs up.

"So they do not want me to endorse it, they just want me to ask questions about it, skeptical questions and let you make up your own mind about it and hopefully help you understand what the hell it does," Conover declared, all fired up in the video.

And yep, we see him getting up close and personal with their creepy iris-scanning orb, peppering the World Chain crew with questions about why they're dangling $41 in WLD tokens in front of folks just to sign up.

"There is so much you can do with this app, if you are into crypto. I am not into crypto. If you are, you might want to check it out. They also say that in the future, you will be able to log into Tinder and other services like that using World," Conover mused, trying to keep it cool.

"Let me know what you're gonna do, are you gonna get yourself Orbed or not? It's entirely up to you," he wrapped up, leaving the choice hanging in the air.

Adam Conover's Not-So-Skeptical Tango with World Chain

Even though Conover insists he's not pushing the product, Reddit's on fire, roasting him for seemingly giving it the green light. Remember, this is the guy who's made a name for himself with "Adam Ruins Everything," tearing down myths with the precision of a surgeon.

It's downright ironic watching Conover waltz with World Chain without his usual skepticism. This is the dude who's supposed to pick things apart, not cozy up to them without a second thought!

"Even in the crypto space, Worldcoin is well-known to be a huge invasion of privacy and absolutely predatory. Adam – someone who's entire shtick is deep research on popular topics – has no reason to not have known what he was promoting. Really disappointing," blasted one Reddit warrior.

"And finally, with his work complete, Adam had ruined everything else, so he turned his power inward and ruined himself," another user snarked, dropping the mic.

Oh, and about that part where Conover supposedly got his eyes scanned by the Orb? It's a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment, fueling whispers that maybe he's not so keen on the tech himself but is fine pushing others into it.

Let's not forget, World Chain's been blacklisted and put under the microscope in places like Indonesia, Brazil, and Hong Kong over those same privacy nightmares tied to their iris-scanning gimmick.

Just recently, Indonesia's Ministry of Communication and Digital slammed the brakes on the platform on May 5 amid a flurry of complaints about sketchy stuff going down.

In a bid to calm the storm, World Chain's now promising users can scrub their iris codes for good, essentially hitting the undo button on their World IDs. They're also swearing up and down that your verification data stays locked up tight on your own device, not getting shared with any nosy third parties.
