Babylon Genesis Fires Up: Multi-Staking and EVM Testnets Coming This Summer!
BTC Staking Protocol Reveals Ambitious 2025 Roadmap
Hang onto your hats, crypto fans! Babylon Genesis is set to launch testnets for both multi-staking and EVM support this summer. And guess what? They're going live on the mainnet by the end of the year. Q4, baby!
Babylon Genesis, the trailblazer in Bitcoin (BTC) staking, just dropped their 2025 roadmap. It's not just a list of dates—it's a blueprint for the future of Bitcoin-native DeFi. We're talking lending, trading, stablecoins, and more. The core staking infrastructure is about to get a mega upgrade!
Get ready for some serious multi-staking action this summer. Babylon is rolling out testnet support that'll let a single BTC position secure multiple networks at once. And it's not just any networks—we're talking Ethereum rollups like Optimism and Arbitrum, plus a bunch of Cosmos chains. It's like your BTC is going to be everywhere at once!
But that's not all. Alongside the multi-staking testnet, Babylon is launching its Ethereum Virtual Machine testnet. This means developers can start building DeFi apps directly on Babylon Genesis using the same tools they love from Ethereum. It's like bringing a piece of Ethereum home to Bitcoin.
By Q4, both multi-staking and EVM are hitting the mainnet, and they're bringing friends. We're talking RPC upgrades, faster block times, and integrations with IBC and LayerZero. Plus, a whole suite of BTCFi dApps is joining the party. Babylon Genesis is setting itself up to be the go-to execution layer for Bitcoin-native DeFi.
Meanwhile, over at Babylon Labs, the R&D team is working on a native Bitcoin liquidity layer using BitVM. They're aiming to make cross-chain BTC use trustless, and the first real-world apps are expected to drop in Q1 2026. It's like they're building the future of Bitcoin, one layer at a time!
Babylon Genesis burst onto the scene back in April, becoming the first Layer-1 blockchain secured by native Bitcoin. It followed an earlier Phase 1 rollout last August, which introduced self-custodial BTC staking via Bitcoin contracts. You get to keep full control over your BTC while helping secure the network. And get this—according to DefiLlama, Babylon is now the second-biggest restaking protocol by TVL, with a whopping $19.81 billion locked. Only EigenLayer is ahead of them!
The April launch also introduced the BABY token, which is currently trading at $0.05073. It's up 9% in the last 24 hours, probably thanks to the buzz from that roadmap release. The future's looking bright for Babylon Genesis!
