Belarus and Russia Team Up for Digital Ruble Domination by 2026!

Minsk Gears Up for Full Digital Ruble Launch

Hold onto your hats, crypto fans! Belarus is sprinting towards a full digital ruble rollout by the end of 2026, and they're not going it alone. They've got Russia by their side, coordinating like pros for this digital currency revolution!

Straight from the horse's mouth, National Bank chief Roman Golovchenko spilled the beans to Belta, the state-run news agency. He's all in on the digital ruble, calling it a top priority and saying they're "actively working on its creation." This guy means business!

"The digital ruble is among our priorities. We are actively working on its creation. First of all, we are focused on the security of funds. This is the issue I call the 'coloring' of funds. For the state, it is very important to be able to trace how digital money moves along the entire chain."

Roman Golovchenko

Golovchenko isn't just talking the talk; he's walking the walk. He laid out the National Bank's game plan: first, they've got to nail down what this digital ruble platform should even look like. Then, they're building their own software from scratch to run the show. And finally, they're setting up the rules of the road for how this thing will operate and be regulated. No shortcuts here!

Get ready, because businesses are set to start using the digital ruble in 2026, with government agencies and everyday folks jumping on board in 2027. But that's not all - Golovchenko sees huge potential for CBDCs in cross-border payments. And guess what? Belarus is "closely working" with Russia, who's also racing towards their own digital ruble. It's a digital currency party, and everyone's invited!

Just a few months ago, word on the street was that the Bank of Russia had to hit the brakes on their full CBDC rollout, pushing it back to mid-2026 due to some tech headaches. But that's not slowing down Belarus and Russia's digital currency dream team!
