COTI, a protocol for privacy in Web3, announced on March 26 that it has launched its mainnet, debuting a new Layer 2 network built to provide Privacy-on-Demand for decentralized applications and institutional users.
COTI has spent over two years developing its mainnet and is now recognized as a significant player in the confidential blockchain infrastructure market.
In partnership with Soda Labs, COTI's Layer 2 employs Garbled Circuits, a cryptographic technique that enables private computation. The technology offers speeds up to 3,000 times faster than current privacy solutions and is compatible with popular blockchain networks.
"The future of Web3 can't be constructed solely on transparency—it requires privacy that's fast, adaptable, and compliant," said Shahaf Bar-Geffen, CEO of COTI. "With the introduction of COTI's mainnet today, we are establishing a new standard for confidential Web3, delivering Privacy-on-Demand across chains."
Resolving privacy and compliance issues
COTI's Layer 2 tackles a significant obstacle for enterprise and government adoption: the absence of compliant privacy infrastructure. As sectors like real-world assets and on-chain identity continue to grow, the need to safeguard sensitive data and adhere to regulatory requirements becomes more critical.
The future of Web3 requires more than just transparency—it needs privacy that's fast, adaptable, and compliant. With the debut of COTI's mainnet today, we're setting a new standard: Privacy-on-Demand across chains. This isn't merely an improvement—it's Web3's missing infrastructure layer.
The platform is already being embraced by crucial ecosystem participants, including Bancor, Band Protocol, MyEtherWallet (MEW), and PriveX, with more integrations on the horizon. COTI is also contributing to national CBDC projects, such as the Digital Shekel pilot with the Bank of Israel.
Ecosystem incentives and future expansion
To promote adoption, the COTI Foundation is distributing 100 $COTI tokens to eligible users who add the new Layer 2 network to MetaMask. The mainnet release includes a network explorer and bridge, enabling users to easily transition from COTI V1 to V2.
COTI's launch represents a change in how privacy is incorporated into blockchain—transforming it from a hindrance to a competitive advantage and creating the foundation for secure, scalable web3 infrastructure.
