Binance Boss CZ Cranks Up Chat Fees to Combat Message Madness!

CZ's ReachMe Rollercoaster: From Flooded to Filtered

Hold onto your hats, crypto fans! Binance's bigwig, CZ, has just jacked up the price to slide into his DMs on ReachMe, the hot new paid chat app he's been testing. Why? Because his inbox was drowning in a sea of spam and silly questions!

Back on Mar. 27, CZ spilled the beans on X about his wild ride with ReachMe. He kicked things off with a modest fee of 0.04 Binance Coin (BNB), around $24 a pop. But guess what? The floodgates burst open, and he was swamped with junk!

Not one to back down, CZ upped the ante to 0.1 BNB ($60), but the message tsunami kept rolling in. So, he slammed the brakes and set the new rate at a whopping 0.2 BNB ($120) per message. His dream? To keep it chill with about 10 messages a day. But he's not holding his breath. Most of what he gets is either too short or too vague, like "How do I run a successful startup?" Seriously?

And get this, CZ isn't pocketing a dime from this. Nope, he's tossing all the cash to charity. His mission? Not to rake in the dough, but to tame the tidal wave of folks trying to reach him.

CZ first floated this pay-to-play idea on Mar. 8 over at Binance Square. He was fed up with the spam-fests on platforms like LinkedIn and X. His master plan? A system where big shots, or Key Opinion Leaders, could slap a fee on their messages. That way, only the real deal would get through.

Here's the kicker: if the KOL didn't hit reply within five days, the sender would get half their cash back. It's a win-win. The sender still pays a bit, keeping the spam at bay, while the KOL has a reason to respond. Plus, the platform snags a 10% cut, leaving 90% for the recipient.

Just 18 days after CZ dropped this bombshell, a dev hit him up with a working prototype. After some back-and-forth and a security check, ReachMe was up and running. It's still in its baby steps, but with CZ on board and maybe even a nod from YZi Labs (the new name for Binance Labs), this could be the next big thing for pros looking to cash in on their clout.
