U.S. Stocks Soar on Softer Inflation, Fed Rate Cut Hopes Ignite!
Stocks in the U.S. shot up today as cooler inflation numbers sparked dreams of a Fed rate slash!
Stock indices in the U.S. flipped from morning dips to gains, riding the wave of a softer consumer price index that could ease money policies. Tuesday, June 12, saw the Dow Jones pop 0.17%, or 70 points, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq both climbing 0.35%.
These tamer inflation stats are still stirring traders, who are betting on rate cuts after last month's chill CPI numbers. But the Fed's playing it cool, wary of U.S. tariffs on big trade buddies possibly firing up inflation again.
The White House isn't backing down, though. President Trump doubled down Thursday, demanding a one-point rate cut from the Fed. He backed off from firing Fed Chair Jerome Powell but hinted he might need to "force something" on those rates.
