The artificial intelligence platform for agentic tokens, Echos, is discontinuing its services.
On March 27, the AI agent platform, which was created by the liquid staking platform Stride based on Cosmos, announced to its community that it will stop operating on May 1, 2025.
Echos, which was introduced in beta in November 2024, identified low adoption as the primary cause for its discontinuation. A notice posted on X indicated that the experiment did not gain substantial momentum, mirroring a wider deceleration in the crypto AI agent sector.
"Echos was always an experiment. Regrettably, Echos has experienced minimal adoption. Moreover, the overall market for AI agents has significantly decreased," the team expressed.
Echos is a Stride app that was created on Celestia and intended as a rollup.
From concept to sunset
At its inception, the Stride team anticipated that Echos' focus on AI and memecoins could potentially revolutionize the future of decentralized finance. The intention was to develop Echos from an experimental product into a comprehensive rollup ecosystem that supports various applications within Stride's liquid staking network.
However, the lack of user engagement has put an end to these ambitions.
The Echos team has advised all users to withdraw their funds before the platform closes permanently on May 1.
Echos drew inspiration from Terminal of Truths, the AI agent that triggered the memecoin Goateus Maximus (GOAT) to skyrocket in the summer of 2024. It eventually achieved a market cap of $1 billion.
Terminal of Truths, a large language model platform supported by Marc Andreessen of Andreessen Horowitz, gained fame after promoting the GOAT token on X—an act that caused the memecoin to surge.
Stride envisioned Echos to provide a comparable AI experience, enabling anyone to launch their own Echo using just a crypto wallet and X account.
Although Echos did not progress beyond the initial phase of its development, the AI agent sector has witnessed several notable projects. Some of the popular ones include Virtuals Protocol, ai16z, Freysa AI, and Delysium.
