Big Players Hoard Ethereum Like It's Going Out of Style!
The Ethereum Foundation is leading the charge, sitting pretty at the top of the pack when it comes to Ethereum's strategic reserves.
Listen up, folks! While Bitcoin has been hogging the spotlight with corporate reserves, Ethereum's been quietly making moves. On June 19, the strategic reserves among the big shots ballooned to a whopping 1.190 million ETH, clocking in at a cool $3 billion. That's over 1% of all the ETH out there!
And guess what? The top dogs are calling the shots with these reserves. The five biggest players are holding onto more than 70% of all the institutional ETH. The Ethereum Foundation's sitting on a mountain of 269,431 ETH. Right behind them is SharpLink, a gaming company traded on Nasdaq, snagging 176,271 ETH on June 13 and staking a massive 95% of it.
SharpLink didn't waste any time, grabbing their reserves on June 13 and locking up 95% of that ETH. And let's not forget about Status, the Ethereum messenger and Wallet crew, who just scooped up 23,066 ETH on June 19. That's a tidy sum of $2.9 million right there.
But wait, there's more! PulseChain, Coinbase, and the Golem Foundation are also in the game, holding onto significant chunks of ETH. And get this—the U.S. government's not sitting on the sidelines, with close to 60,000 ETH in their pocket, mostly from asset seizures.
More Companies Eyeing ETH Like It's Black Friday
Sure, Bitcoin's still the king of strategic reserves, but Ethereum's pulling in more and more attention from corporations and government bigwigs. As the OG altcoin, it's becoming the go-to choice for those looking beyond Bitcoin.
Take Michigan's state pension plan, for instance. They just threw $10 million into Ethereum. And it's not just them—publicly traded companies like Bit Digital, BTCS, Intchains Group, and KR1 are all getting in on the action, mostly focusing on crypto assets.
These numbers are straight from the Strategic ETH Reserve initiative, keeping tabs on major institutional holders through wallets that everyone can see. They're all about pushing for transparency and getting more institutions to jump on the Ethereum bandwagon.
