James Wynn: The Crypto Trader Who Bet $1.1 Billion on Bitcoin
From Humble Beginnings to High-Stakes Trading
James Wynn is making waves in the crypto world with his jaw-dropping $1.1 billion long position on BTCPERP through HyperLiquid. But who is this daring trader, and what other crazy bets has he made? More importantly, what's his latest gamble?
James Wynn, the guy who just threw down $1.1 billion on Bitcoin perps on HyperLiquid, calls himself a "high-risk leverage trader and memecoin maxi" on X. He started this wild ride with a mere $400K margin just five days ago, cranking up the heat and leveraging 40 times to control that massive $1.1 billion bet. He jumped in at an average BTC price of around $108K, according to Coinglass.
This trade has been a rollercoaster, swinging from a paper profit of $17 million to a stomach-churning $15.6 million unrealized loss. But right now, it's sitting pretty with a profit of about $14 million, thanks to Bitcoin hovering above $110K. Wynn's liquidation price is chilling at $95,805, so he's safe for now.
Wynn only started trading on HyperLiquid a couple of months ago, but he's already made 32 leveraged trades on all sorts of currencies. He's been betting on Fartcoin (FARTCOIN) and Official Trump (TRUMP), reportedly pocketing $4.8 million and $6.8 million from those trades earlier this month.
This guy has a knack for spotting opportunities early, like when he jumped on Pepe coin (PEPE) when its market cap was just $600K.
So, what's Wynn's latest bet? Moonpig (MOONPIG), an $80M marketcap memecoin that's skyrocketing 120% as we speak.
