Conor McGregor Throws Down on Crypto: Bitcoin's the People's Champ!
Holy smokes, folks! UFC legend Conor McGregor is diving into the wild world of cryptocurrencies, and he's not holding back! The man who's no stranger to a knockout punch is now throwing jabs at governments, saying Bitcoin is the "immutable" currency that'll keep 'em in check.
On May 12, this Irish firecracker, who's also eyeing a presidential run, hit up X to grill users about Bitcoin and other cryptos. McGregor's not just talking trash; he's seriously considering the power of these digital assets and the massive potential Bitcoin's packing.
"Bitcoin or cryptocurrency? I can see lots of transparent and trustless applications within crypto. And I can see an immutable people's money with Bitcoin," McGregor roared in his post.
Bitcoin or cryptocurrency?
I can see lots of transparent and trustless applications within crypto.
And I can see an immutable people's money with Bitcoin.
What cryptos can help bring accountability to a government? Why??
But McGregor didn't stop there. He went straight for the jugular, asking X users which cryptos could hold governments accountable. And guess what? The crypto bigwigs came out swinging! Cardano's Charles Hoskinson and Orqestra's Stephen Cole jumped into the ring, ready to rumble.
"Let's chat," Hoskinson challenged McGregor in a comment under his Bitcoin post.
Meanwhile, Cole was all in on Bitcoin, calling it the "only one socially decentralized enough to resist pressures" compared to other tokens out there.
"Cryptocurrencies are much more like companies than commodities. Even if they claim to be 'decentralized', there's usually a small group of influential people who get rich if you buy in and who can change the rules of the supply if they try hard enough," Cole threw down in his comment.
Conor McGregor as a pro-crypto president?
Hold onto your hats, because McGregor's not just talking crypto; he's gunning for the Irish presidency in 2025! This guy's a force to be reckoned with, and his political views are straight-up Trump-style.
McGregor's been rubbing elbows with the big man himself, appearing at the White House with President Trump on St. Patrick's Day, pushing anti-immigrant vibes. If he snags that presidential seat, you can bet your bottom dollar he'll be all about that crypto life.
Just like Trump, McGregor's already taken a swing at the meme coin game. But his REAL coin? Total knockout... in the wrong direction. Launched on April 7, it tanked 61% below its $1 million pre-sale target, forcing McGregor to hit the pause button and refund all the bids.
But don't count McGregor out just yet. The REAL website's promising a comeback "soon," and you can sign up to get the scoop when it drops.
