Mobile Crypto Platform by Revolut Now Available for U.K. and EEA Customers

Revolut, a fintech platform based in the United Kingdom, has introduced a mobile application for cryptocurrency exchange that is accessible to users in the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area (EEA).

According to an announcement made by Revolut, the new app, called Revolut X, will enable users in the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area to trade more than 400 different cryptocurrency pairings and 220 digital tokens directly within the app. The launch of Revolut X comes at a time when the market for cryptocurrencies is experiencing a resurgence and regulatory clarity is growing around the world.

In November 2024, the London-headquartered neobank initially revealed that Revolut X would be expanding into 30 markets across Europe. This announcement came after the company introduced the standalone cryptocurrency exchange earlier in the year. The desktop version of the exchange was primarily geared toward professional traders.

The most recent development brings the exchange to mobile users in the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area (EEA). In a statement, Leonid Bashlykov, who is in charge of cryptocurrency at Revolut, said:

"It's an experience that's both straightforward and potent, designed to cater to the requirements of both new and seasoned traders, and it comes with the added benefit of rigorous security measures that customers can rely on." 

Revolut X signifies the culmination of the company's efforts to expand its business in the realm of cryptocurrency trading, which began in 2021. After the platform was introduced in May, Revolut extended access to it to account holders located throughout the EEA.

Revolut has been steadily growing its offerings in the cryptocurrency market since 2017, and the company introduced crypto staking for users in the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area in June 2023. The company also provides a card that is connected to cryptocurrency.

Even though Revolut is not a company that specializes in cryptocurrencies, the expansion of its offerings into the realm of digital assets demonstrates the company's desire to acquire a portion of the market in a space that is expanding quickly and is currently dominated by platforms such as Coinbase and Crypto.com.
