Netflix Drops Bombshell Casting for FTX Scandal Series!
Hang onto your hats, crypto fans! Netflix just spilled the beans on who's playing the infamous Sam Bankman-Fried and Caroline Ellison in their sizzling new limited series about the FTX fiasco.
On May 30, the streaming giant finally let the cat out of the bag, revealing the fresh faces that'll bring to life the whirlwind story of FTX's rise and fall in this eight-episode rollercoaster.
Get ready for "The Altruist," a series that's set to shake you to your core, produced by none other than Higher Ground, the powerhouse started by Barack and Michelle Obama.
Julia Garner and Anthony Boyle are stepping into the shoes of Caroline Ellison and Sam Bankman-Fried. Brace yourselves for "The Altruists," where two brilliant young dreamers try to flip the world's financial script in a heartbeat...only to end up swindling $8 billion right under everyone's noses.
Netflix just threw down the gauntlet, confirming that Anthony Boyle will embody the former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried, while Julia Garner will take on the role of his ex-girlfriend and former Alameda Research head, Caroline Ellison.
"Two hyper-smart young idealists try to remake the global financial system in the blink of an eye…only to seduce each other into stealing $8 billion," Netflix declared. Buckle up, folks, it's gonna be a wild ride!
Who's Who in This Crypto Drama?
Anthony Boyle, the Northern Irish firecracker, is no stranger to the screen, having lit up mini-series like Say Nothing, Masters of the Air, and the upcoming Netflix show House of Guinness. He's also rocked the big screen in movies like Tetris and Tolkien.
And Julia Garner? She's an Emmy-winning dynamo known for her electric performances in Ozark, Inventing Anna, Maniac, and The Get Down. This girl knows how to bring the heat!
Netflix's Tudum spilled more tea, revealing that Graham Moore and Jacqueline Hoyt will be steering the ship as co-showrunners. Moore, who's behind The Imitation Game and The Outfit, and Hoyt, the brain behind The Underground Railroad, Dietland, and Leftovers, are ready to take us on a thrill ride.
"For nearly three years now, Sam and Caroline’s story has been my daily obsession, I’m so grateful to my friends at Netflix and Higher Ground for loving this story not only as much as I do, but in the same way that I do," Moore gushed. Talk about passion!
James Ponsoldt, the maestro behind The Spectacular Now, Daisy Jones & The Six, and Shrinking, is set to direct the first episode. And Vinnie Malhotra and Jessie Dicovitsky are pulling the strings as executive producers for Higher Ground Productions. This team means business!
While Netflix hasn't dropped a concrete date for when "The Altruist" will hit our screens, there's a chance Caroline Ellison might catch it before it vanishes. She's locked up for 24 months, but the U.S. Bureau of Prisons says she'll be out in May 2026.
And what about Sam Bankman-Fried? The BOP says he'll be out four years earlier than his original 25-year sentence, thanks to good behavior, program participation, and time served before sentencing. Looks like he's playing his cards right!
