From White House to Crypto House: Bill Daley Joins Forteus Amid Washington's Crypto Embrace
Wall Street and West Wing Vet Takes Key Role at Numeus Group's Crypto Arm
Bill Daley, the man who's danced through the halls of power from Wall Street to the White House, is now throwing his hat into the crypto ring. He's snagged a pivotal spot at Forteus, the crypto management division of Numeus Group, as Washington starts to cozy up to the digital currency scene.
This isn't just any move—Daley, who once steered the ship as Barack Obama's chief of staff and served as Commerce Secretary under Bill Clinton, is diving headfirst into the world of digital assets. He's joining forces with Forteus to lure in the big fish, capitalizing on the industry's surge as President Donald Trump pushes to make the U.S. the global epicenter for crypto.
Daley is stepping into a scene that's buzzing with potential. Numeus Group, founded in 2021 by Two Sigma alum Nobel Gulati, is no small player. With over $130 million in assets under management and offices spanning Switzerland, New York, London, and Mauritius, they're making waves. And Daley? He's all in, declaring it's "a time of renewed optimism and regulatory progress for the crypto industry in the U.S."
At 76, Daley's no stranger to switching gears between finance and government. Just last year, he hung up his hat as vice chairman of public affairs at Wells Fargo, after stints at BNY Mellon and JPMorgan. Now, he's ready to shake things up in the crypto world.
Late 2024 saw Forteus teaming up with crypto exchange OKX and custodian Komainu to tackle some of the biggest headaches in the institutional crypto game: security and trading flexibility.
This power move lets Forteus trade non-stop on OKX's platform, while keeping client assets locked down tight in Komainu's cold storage. It's a game-changer, smashing the old either-or dilemma that's been holding back institutional players.
