Tether Ups the Ante in Juventus, Eyes Europe's Crypto Comeback

Stablecoin Giant's Bold Move into Football and Beyond

Tether's not just playing the field—they're upping their game! The stablecoin powerhouse has kicked up its stake in Juventus, the legendary Italian football club, as part of a slick strategy to storm back into the European market after getting benched by pesky compliance issues under MiCA.

Tether Investments, the investment arm of the USDT issuer, has now snatched over 10.12% of Juventus' shares, which translates to 6.18% of the voting rights. This comes hot on the heels of their initial 8.2% grab, showing they're in it to win it.

Alex Obchakevich, the brain behind Obchakevich Research, spilled the beans that Tether's beefing up their Juventus stake is all about polishing their image and getting back in the European game after MiCA regulations threw them a curveball.

Remember when Binance booted USDT from its spot trading pairs in the European Economic Area to play nice with MiCA? That started in March and was a wrap by April, leaving Tether scrambling for a comeback.

But hold onto your hats! Tether's not down and out. They've thrown their weight behind the launch of MiCA-friendly stablecoins EURR and USDR through StablR and Oobit, aiming to make a splash in Europe once more after USDT got the boot from major exchanges.

Tether's not just stopping at football. They're spreading their wings, dropping €10 million into the Italian media outfit Be Water and splashing a whopping $775 million into the Canadian video platform Rumble towards the end of 2024. These folks are on a roll!

Despite raking in a mind-blowing $13 billion in profit in 2024 and eyeing a cool $7.4 billion in 2025 EBITDA, which would rank them among the world's top 20 most valuable companies, Tether's playing it cool and says they've got no plans to go public. Talk about playing hard to get!
